There are two types of Vitamin K: Vitamin K1 and Vitamin K2

Vitamin K1 and Vitamin K2 have very different functions in the body and are not the same thing!

Vitamin K1 is the type of Vitamin K that is found in green leafy vegetables. Vitamin K1 has a key role in helping the blood to clot, thereby preventing excessive bleeding. Taking Vitamin K1 together with your Warfarin is not advisable.
Vitamin K2 on the other hand has two key roles. It activates Osteocalcin which helps calcium bind to the bone for bone strength, and it activates Matrix GLA protein that helps to prevent arterial calcification. Vitamin K2 does not interfere with Warfarin.

The modern diet has less than 10% of dietary Vitamin K.

Kidney disease leads to an increase in production of Parathyroid Hormone (PTH). This also leads to too much Phosphate in the body. Increased Phosphate builds up in the body and binds to Calcium. This then causes Calcium levels to decrease, which may weaken bones over time.
