Stellar Activ-FOLATE could be of benefit for –
Stellar Activ-FOLATE containing 5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) does not need to be broken down by the body like conventional Synthetic Folic Acid. This means that 5-MTHF is ready to be used by the body immediately. 5-MTHF is 7x more bioavailable (better absorbed) than Synthetic Folic Acid. Folate during pregnancy helps to prevent Neural Tube Defects (NTD’s) in your baby and is essential for the development of Baby’s Brain and Spinal Cord.
Active Folate is the only form of Folate that can cross the Brain-Blood-Barrier and thus has benefits for both Mom and Baby’s Brain. Folate is essential to produce many Neurotransmitters in the Brain. Folate can also be of great benefit in helping to prevent post-partum depression.
Stellar Activ-FOLATE can be used prior to conception (before pregnancy), throughout pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.
Stellar Activ-FOLATE can also be used together with any Folate depleting medications such as Oral Contraceptives (the Pill), Anti-Depressants, Anti-Convulsants or Chronic Medication like Methotrexate. Stellar Active-Folate is Vegan-friendly and Halaal.
Stellar Activ-FOLATE could be of benefit for the following Persons –

Stellar Activ-FOLATE contains –
Active Folate as 5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF), a 3rd generation Folate. Active Folate does not need to be broken down by the body through a complex enzymatic process like conventional Synthetic Folic Acid. Active Folate is ready to be used by the body immediately and is 7x better absorbed than Synthetic Folic Acid. Folate (as 5-MTHF) is also the only form of Folic Acid that is able to cross the blood-brain-barrier.
Folate is the most important Vitamin prior to falling pregnant and in the 1st Trimester of Pregnancy.
Folate is essential during pregnancy as it helps prevent Neural Tube Defects such as Spina Bifida and Anencephaly. The highest risk for Neural Tube Defects occurs between the 21st and 28th day after conception when the embryonic neural tube closes. This is in the first month of pregnancy, often before a woman even knows that she is pregnant. Therefore, one should start supplementing with Folate at least 2 to 3 months prior to falling pregnant as per the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Guidelines.
Stellar Activ-FOLATE is suitable for use by Vegans and is Halaal.
Folic Acid and Folate are not the same thing. Folic Acid is a Synthetic Vitamin which needs to be metabolised by the body in order to form Folate. Folate is the natural form of Vitamin B9 which can immediately act within the body. Synthetic Folic Acid is a man-made version of Vitamin B9, and needs to be converted into the Active Form of Folate before the body can use it.
Active Folate is the only form of Folate that can cross the Brain-Blood-Barrier.
Some people are poor Folic Acid Metabolisers. Poor Folic Acid Metabolisers usually have a polymorphism (mutation) of the enzyme MTHFR. In these cases, it is essential that these people take Folate (5-MTHF) as they cannot metabolise (use) Synthetic Folic Acid.
Folate is a key component that is used in the Methylation Cycle and is involved in Red Blood Cell Formation, Neurotransmitter Production and Protein Synthesis.
Methylation influences the production of Glutathione, a major Antioxidant and protector of cell health.
Low Folate Status (Folate Deficiency) has been linked to Depression.
Stellar Activ-FOLATE contains a metabolically active form of Folate which is important for preconception and the first trimester of pregnancy. Not only is Folate important for the early stages of pregnancy, but it can also be beneficial in the later stages of pregnancy and after giving birth, because it helps with the production of certain neurotransmitters in the brain responsible for mood. So don’t forget Folate in helping to prevent those “baby blues”’ after birth.
