Vitamin B Supplements often contain the cheaper Synthetic Inactive Forms of the B Vitamins. Synthetic Inactive B Vitamins require conversion by the liver to be absorbed and utilised by the body. The liver converts these B Vitamins into the active forms slowly, therefore they are quickly eliminated from the body through urine before offering much of a benefit. B Vitamins are also water soluble, so they need to be replaced daily.
Active B Vitamins play critical roles in many body processes. They serve as cofactors for enzymatic reactions, and are necessary for gene expression, oxidation-reduction reactions, energy production, detoxification, and formation of other biologically essential compounds.
