Suffering from morning sickness?

Preggy-Mama is a cost effective, but high value, Pregnancy Vitamin and Mineral Supplement that contains the active form of Folate, Chelated Iron and other Essential Vitamins and Minerals for Mom and Baby.

Take your Pregnancy tablets as recommended by your Doctor, or as directed by the box.

Active Folate as 5-Methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF), does not need to be broken down by the body through a complex enzymatic process like conventional Synthetic Folic Acid. Active Folate is ready to be used by the body immediately and is 7x better absorbed than Synthetic Folic Acid.

Folate is the most important Vitamin prior to falling pregnant and in the 1st Trimester of Pregnancy.

Why choose Preggy-Mama and what are the benefits?

Myo-Inositol, when combined with Folate significantly reduces the incidence of Neural Tube Defects rather than using Folate alone, especially in Folic Acid resistant persons (i.e. persons who are unable to metabolise Synthetic Folic Acid).

Chelated Iron is softer on the stomach and has a lower side effect profile that reduces constipation, black stools and nausea as compared to other conventional oral Iron Supplements. Thus, Chelated Iron is a good form of Iron to be used in Pregnancy.

Preggy-Mama is our recommended Pregnancy Vitamin Supplement for Pregnant Women looking for a cost conscious but high value Pregnancy Vitamin option.

Preggy-Mama and Stellar-Mama are our pregnancy supplements. (or prenatal supplements). Both Preggy-Mama and Stellar-Mama can be used prior to falling pregnant, throughout pregnancy and during breastfeeding. It is recommended to continue taking your pregnancy supplement for at least 12 months after giving birth or at least for as long as you are Breastfeeding.

Stellar-Mama is a triple pack containing a vitamin and mineral capsule, a calcium tablet and an Omega 3 capsule.

Preggy-Mama is a single combination tablet containing vitamins and minerals, but excludes Omega 3. Preggy-Mama is an innovative pregnancy supplement which is suitable fore Vegans.

Preggy-Mama and Stellar-Mama are prenatal supplements – Mom and Baby.

What is the difference between Preggy-Mama and Stellar-Mama?

Active Folate (5-MTHF) vs Synthetic Folic Acid

Synthetic Folic Acid is man-made Vitamin B9, and needs to be converted into the active form of Folate (5-MTHF) before the body can use it. Active Folate is the only form of Folate that can cross the Brain-Blood-Barrier.  This form of Vitamin B9 can be used by the body immediately.

Some people are “Poor Folic Acid Metabolisers”. Poor Folic Acid Metabolisers have a polymorphism (gene mutation) of the enzyme Methylene Tetrahydrofolate Reductase (MTHFR). Mutations in the MTHFR Gene prohibits a person from being able to adequately metabolise Synthetic Folic Acid resulting in a low Folate Status. In these cases, it is essential that these people take Folate (5-MTHF) as they cannot metabolise (use) Synthetic Folic Acid.

Folate is essential during Pregnancy as it helps prevent Neural Tube Defects such as Spina Bifida and Anencephaly. The highest risk for Neural Tube Defects occurs between the 21st and 28th day after conception when the embryonic neural tube closes (becomes brain and spinal cord). This is in the first month of pregnancy, often before a woman even knows that she is pregnant. Therefore, one should start supplementing with Folate at least 2 to 3 months prior to falling pregnant as per the World Health Organisation’s Guidelines.

Women with a history of previous miscarriages are encouraged to take higher doses of Folate prior to falling pregnant again, as well as taking additional Folate over and above their Pregnancy Supplement during their first Trimester. Stellar Activ-Folate can be added to Preggy-Mama in these instances.

50% of women who develop Post-partum Depression begin experiencing symptoms during their Pregnancy. It is important to recognise the symptoms of the “Baby Blues” so that it can be treated. Low Folate status (Folate deficiency) has been linked to Depression. Stellar Activ-Folate is recommended to be taken as an adjunct to other Medications for Post-partum Depression.
