Stellar Activ-Folate is unique in that it contains a 3rd generation methylated folate called Active ExtraFolate-S, that does not need to be broken down by the body prior to use as compared to synthetic folic acid which requires a long slow metabolic break down process. Active ExtraFolate-S is 7 times more bioavailable than synthetic folic acid. Stellar Activ-Folate can be used prior to conception, throughout pregnancy or together with any folate depleting medications such as oral contraceptives, anti-depressants, anti-convulsants or methotrexate.

2 Pack Sizes: 30s or 120s.

Each pack contains a 30 or 120-day supply of folate tablets.

Take one Folate Tablet in the morning with breakfast or as prescribed by your Healthcare Professional.

Stellar Activ-Folate contains –

  • Active Extrafolate-S, a 3rd generation methylated folate that does not need to be broken down by the body through a complex enzymatic metabolic process like conventional synthetic folic acid does, which means that it is ready to be used by the body immediately.

Stellar Activ-Folate is suitable for use by vegetarians.

  • Folate vs Folic Acid? Folate is the naturally-occurring form of vitamin B9 (an active metabolically form) whereas folic acid is a synthetic form of vitamin B9 (a metabolically active form). The body does not convert folic acid into active vitamin B9 very well, so un-metabolized folic acid may build up in the bloodstream which can have negative health effects. Thus, Folate and Folic Acid are technically not the same thing.
  • Folate is essential during pregnancy as it helps prevent neural tube defects such as spina bifida and cleft palate. The highest risk for neural tube defects occurs between the 21st and 28th day after conception when the embryonic neural tube closes. This is in the first month of pregnancy, often before a woman even knows that she is pregnant. Thus, one should start supplementing with folate at least 2 to 3 months prior to falling pregnant as per the World Health Organisation’s Guidelines.
